The Gold Line is a proposal to bring rapid transit to Chicago’s south lakefront neighborhoods. Instead of building a completely new transit line, the Gold Line would transform an existing Metra branch (Metra Electric District – South Chicago) into a new CTA line. By running frequent service throughout the day – not just at rush hour – the Gold Line would provide a reliable transportation option for South Side residents.
